Phil always looked like he’d dragged himself out of a vegetable patch, but boy could he ride. It’s actually good to see none of the sponsors gumph and having to dress for tv. Just a fast bloke who didn’t care about anything other than racing.

When I was a stupid teenager, I threw a lit fag into a bucket half full of dirty petrol, used to clean parts, it just went out, who'd of funk it.

Yep, tried that too and it did the same
On the other end of the spectrum I went with a mate up the woods with a dirt bike and a full petrol can of extra fuel
Bike broke down so we were messing around and decided to dump the petrol out and light it to make carrying the can and pushing the bike easier
I'll just say when you throw a match into a gallon of vapourising petrol its not the gentle lighting you see on tv
Nearly lost all my facial hair it was so violent

Like a missile, said aerosol entered the dining room via the window and landed on the table just as everyone started tucking in!

Don’t know what made me laugh more. Baz behind those awful curtains or the Brut 33 sticker in the window. 😄

Twin discs on a 80cc bike. Never seen that before, except on the Purple Popsicle... Alex It makes almost 12bhp, ie the power of the restricted 125s of the era. I reckon it'd need those dual disks which are like saucers btw. The MB50/80 made do with one and it could have done with a 2nd one really, tho if serviced and in good nick it would work fine... in period. In todays world you'd think it awful lol. At the time we ran MTs with 70/80/90/125 top end kits on their OEM drum brakes... the disks of the MB series seemed amazing lol. These bike were pretty tech heavy for a big moped really and made the H100 spec like something from the ark lol. Watercooling, disk brakes, mono shock, CDI ignition, Comstar 'alloy' wheels and a natty car like dash. Sure others had been doing these things for years but Honda made the MBX pretty spaceage for the times compared to the other models. In the mid 80s seeing one of these in the UK and many northern EU countries was unlikely, I think most went to warmer climes like Greece where the MT/DT80 was a bigger seller. I'd hate to be looking for parts for one of these now.
