Hi all anyone used another yam side stand? Off a xj 650 maybe or xj 700? Side stand I've got is really short and doesn't go forward enough and flicks back. Original ones hard to find.
cheers pat

Frame powder coated? Too thick paint and it won't fold out enough.

Yambits (Shambits) sell an Lc side stand, but beware, they have been known to snap within minutes of the bike leaning on it Dean at Billetworld sells an aftermarket side stand - different shape to standard but a few guys here have them - no problems reported. You can fit a stand off a Triumph but will need to mod as the spring sits on the outside of the stand bracket. And you can grind the stopper part of the bracket on the frame back a bit to let the stand lock into a more forward position when it's down. My hybrid benefitted from doing that Dusty

BMW stand on mine, stood a bit too upright, and indeed fell over the once, luckily with no damage, then ground back the stand (alloy) to allow it to sit further forward when deployed, and the bike leans over just nice now.

I know Dusty's Yambits side stand story lol. Mine is from them and been on for 2 years now. No probs with it at all. Maybe they got a better supplier?

You'd hope so Alex. Don't forget your bike is lighter than it will be when finished so that will make a difference. No one can say with any certainty if they are all dodgy or not, but it's something to be aware of. Dusty

Stand gets loaded most when there’s a slope involved etc... Considering the consequences of a nice bike with fresh paint going over sideways it’s just not worth the risk to use anything you don’t have full faith in or have properly strength tested etc.

I have a billet world side stand as I have rear sets and I am looking at changing it as it always feels insecure on it, however I do have a 90 profile rear tyre and not an 80 so that could be the problem, but I always end up putting a block of wood under the stand.
