I’ve just put the rear wheel back onto the LC and tightened the wheel nut to the recommended torque 107NM. Tried spinning the wheel by hand and it is fairly stiff; no free wheeling. It also rubs on the back plate. I don’t remember it being like that before I took it off ? Mike

No I haven’t refitted the rear brake yet. When bolt is finger tight it spins fine.

Are the fins damaged in the wheel

Did you strip the wheel? There is a spacer between the two wheel bearings.

Maybe the bearings are not fully seated.

Back plate and wheel have fins that interlock to stop water and muck getting in the drum

Sounds like a definite spacer problem to me 🤔

Check the captive spacer thats inside the brake backplate, it can get work out if things are not working properly. Ive seen them go missing completely as well. That will allow the backplate to contact the wheel and make this noise.
