Any one heard or seen a 250 LC OVX243V I bought this bike new in July 1980, threw it up the road, kept it a year then gave the bike with the HP book to a mate to carry wondered if it was still on the road?

Think I may have a problem, I just noticed the chain has been rubbing on the frame so more investigation needed!

I thought Andrew M had decided to keep this bike, but obviously not ! There is a thread in this resto section - just look for his name and you'll find it. He mentions the wrong offset sprocket issue that's allowed the chain to rub the frame. Should be a relatively easy fix to get the run right. Good luck Dusty

Welcome in. Hope you have better luck with that bike than the last owner. The consensus was to lose the seat and the oversize LC logos!
Hope you get it sorted and enjoy riding it.

Hi Jon its got a 150 wide tire on it, had a quick look tonight and im not sure if all is correct on the swinging arm.need more time to investigate.Looks like arm is not central but as I said.need to check this properly and that wheels are inline first. The chain has definitely hit the tire on that side at some point, just from looking it looks like the wheel is closer to swinging arm on one side than the other,I dont know what spacers etc should be on the wheel as it has a brake carrier which i dont know is standard as it has a small brembo caliper. If anyone knows what size the the carriers and spacers are it would be of great help. cheers steve

Its the rgv rear wheel and swinging arm

It’s a simple case of maths.
The LC is about 201mm wide at the swingarm.
With a 150 tyre, if the wheel is central then there should be 25.5mm or so each side.
A 520 chain is about 18mm wide.
So assuming you have everything set up perfectly there may be 3.75mm clearance between the tyre and frame with the chain.
And that’s an ideal setup.
If the chain is not in perfect adjustment it can easily move sidewards and hit the tyre or frame.
That is exactly why my latest LC, and indeed many in the past has been spread wider.
Jon

Hi guys decided to remove swinging arm today, as soon as l slackened the nut it dropped on disc side when I removed it the spindle fit is really loose on this side it looks like it needs a bush or something, chain side is nice snug fit, the central bush or bushes just slide up and down.. is this right? Advise please first attempt at this!
