Had a look tonight and it looks like I'm about 12mm too short for the slides to shut !
I think last time I carefully cut the hexagons down on the 2 bottom throttle cables but is there another way ?
Got the carbs with the swan neck tops which are quite long I guess but that is what I used last time (but now worried the threads don't run all the way down the hexagons )
Hexagons were screwed right down on the threads of the swan necks and on the throttle side , it was turned right in

Hi, when I have fitted different carbs I have ended up making new inners on the short sections to the carbs . 9 times out of 10 when you have made them they still need some fine adjustment. Get some inner cable from a push bike shop and some small nipples and solder them on with some lead free solder .

Fit some 45 degree bends

I have the bends so need to either lengthen cables like Steeley said or shorten the hexagons Or get rid of the bends then maybe give the length back !

Use a pair of the 45 degree elbows from norbo and file the lock nuts to half distance
You can also cut your long elbows and cut a new m6 x 0.75 thread

I fit the 45 deg bends and grind the top of the cap down flush where the bend tightens in and the lock nut tightens up, That way works for me,

you can cut the threads a little more on the bends as well, every little helps.

If you split the cable, take 2/3mm off the bottom of the cable holder you can run bigger carbs, I’m on 32mm’s

The hexagon adjusters (on the 2 bottom cables) have 20mm of inside thread The angled tops on the carbs have 10mm of thread but must include the half nut
I need to lose at least 12mm

Yes mine are supposed to be the proper Keihin carb tops with fixed in elbows and look longer to yours
I think I would rather buy some more angled carb connectors like yours than chop the hexs !
Like these
www.splatshop.co.uk/sherco-carb-top-keihin.html
I do have a tap and die kit to put some more thread on ?

The keihin ones are longer, I had some a few years back I ended up cutting 5-10mm off the long hex adjuster.
Just buy a pair off Norbo, no mucking about.

I discovered that 28MM Pwks on a Valvie in an LC frame gave better Throttle cable control WITHOUT! the goofy metal carb top angled tubes. Cleaner smoother throttle action resulted from simply allowing the throttle cables to gently curve into the PWKS. Internet wisdom is ...Always... subject to trial and error proof !

I have chopped the hexagons down about 12mm in the end, 10mm like I think Jessey said would have done it but didn't want to do it twice! Cost nothing so better option LOL Got to decide what pod filters now
PWK 28's have 48.5mm OD for clamping and could squeeze something in about 125mm long but would need to be the squashy foam type

I like the look of the Uni filters. I emailed them in the states during the week regards UK stockists but never received a reply☹ They do filters with a 15 degree angle at the clamp so you can fit them pointing in towards the centre of the bike to miss the frame tubes. There are sellers on ebay uk though so you could try them. Mutts sells filters too but I'm not sure which make.

I emailed Ramair in desperation LOL
I remember years a go they said they could do the filters longer (they call it height) , so asked them about the 48mm I.D. and 125mm long

Think you are over complicating things Just buy the 48mm filters. It's what I fitted Steve

How long are they though Steve ?
Found the battery box is the limiting factor the further you go back 120mm might have to be maximum ?

If you are running pwks on rubber inlets you will have more than enough room for the filters that Steve says, on my 421 I'm using a-billet inlet which moves the carbs even further back with mikuni 34s which again are bigger in size than your 28s with the above Ramairs. They foul the side rails slightly and just touch the airbox and oil tank and just touches the shock spring. Any other filter and it would be game over unless you use a K&N cone type which we all know throws up other issues.
Mark.
