I have a set of brand new GENUINE YAMAHA 1st oversize pistons but both have only got a mark on top of the piston with the letter 'L' ....no arrow nothing....if I was to fit these will it matter which way the 'L' face's in the barrels? ?

If it's an rd it will have the holes in the rear that go at the inlet
If it's an old piston ported motor with no holes and both back and front are identical it shouldn't matter
Where is the L on the piston?

Steve hi steve I really appreciate your help on this....both pistons are marked 'L' on 9 o clock position with both open holes at 12 & 6 o clock.....I have compaired both and apart from the 'L' mark they appear to be identical all round even internialy....just worried that I could have them fitted wrongly and the piston rings affect the bores??? whats your thoughts
ZiG
THANKS AGAIN

What bike are they from
The important thing will be the ring locating pegs
If fitted the wrong way The ring ends may catch on a port

I have seen this on pistons before.
I don’t think it refers to left, as I have never seen one with R on.
