In sheer numbers I suspect that the 31k style tank has a bigger market worldwide than the LC as there is the USA market to consider, and the fact that the LC2 model stretched into 85 with the F/N1 models as well. That only matters if as a seller you can tap into those markets and supply via a local seller with taxes and still be at the right price point. Ive never seen Indonesia, Japan or USA sales figures for our bikes... makes you wonder... Ok, to lighten the mood... This thread is absolutely not about the Indian tanks, we all know not to buy one of these now I am sure, but yesterday I was surfing Aussie Gumtree and happened across a seller hoping to cut their losses and get rid of this sad excuse for an Indian tank. Not only was the shape wrong (obvious in the other pics), but check out the pic below... can you spot the problem? I dont for one minute think the Japanese will encounter any such a problem with theirs, they not only care a bit more about what theyre doing, but they also at least have an old tank or two rather than (what must be quite blurry) photos to copy! Good luck getting the side panel to fit with the position of that fuel tap 🙄 Steve

Well i have a decent amount its the post that kills you and the tax once they land. You have to pay %20 on the tank price and a further %20 on the post price so by the time i get them they have cost me more then there listed price . But we shall see.

Sounds like Norbo is progressing it for the Brits then, thats good to hear. As usual in Aus we'll have to fend for ourselves as its cheaper that way on imports. For those looking for an update, they have the first sample back and have a few improvements to make. (if you dont have Chrome you might need a translater site to work the language out for you... unless you speak Japanese lol) retro-spl.jp/publics/index/44/

These are really available now. Check out my project F1 thread! Cost an arm and an leg but these are no Indian artesan tanks. From what you say about the fit not being quite right in your F1 thread (as below) I don't think they're good enough if cost is €1000 delivered? Good news for you 31K drivers!
I received the fuel tank from Retro Japan today.
It wasn't cheap, with all the expenses it was closer to 1000 euros delivered. They are negotiating a dealership in Great britain but rest of Europe, New Zealand etc aren't getting dealers any time soon.
If you want to order one then contact :
hideki@i-extension.com and retrointernational@i-extension.com
Quality seems OK but not perfect. The fitment is "there" but for example different sides have different clearances to the frame. I used silicon oil to lube the front rubbers so it shouldn't be an issue.
The seat is a bit crappy, my other seat has better foam and fits a bit better.
Wonder if I should complain? For the price I think it should be better. For the record the original fuel tank fits better

Now that I have oogled the tank a bit more, when painted, seat and plastics fitted no one will notice the difference without a ruler or telling before hand. The quality seems good otherwise ie it will not leak, tap will fit like original and same for the cap. I guess if purchasing to aus or new zealand the cost will be very different. If you can get a friend or two and buy three pieces then the cost per tank will drop a lot. The 1000€ is to Finland for one tank and we have 24% VAT and on top of that customs fee.

These are now available from Webike Japan and they will ship to the UK
I have just bought one so time will tell
There is a free UK Post offer on just now using UK24 code and select EMS as the shipping method
It will attract VAT but it cost £320 so even with the fees on top it's still viable
Annoyingly I bought a used one from Germany over the weekend but hey, you can never have too many 31k tanks 😉

Looking at the pics it looks like the seam is a bit wonky at the fuel tap which is behind the side panel Time will tell when it arrives, even if it needs a tweak and a bit of filler it's still new solid steel and not the usual gamble Webike don't usually sell tat so here's hoping 🤞 Steve

Hopefully as you say ,should be decent and not see the "not so good areas"

Aw crap, this is what I had waited for. Well sucks to be me but from Webike the tank would have been a good 400 euros cheaper.

Mine's been sat at my local delivery office for the last two days. No sign of the ransom note yet. Will be interesting to compare charges - apart from the £12 'admin' charge.

Oh OK then, just for you 🤣 Tank looks good. In the original pics the tank looks flat at the back but in real life it's fine The defect they are talking about with the edge seems to be the flat plate at the rear as it's too long on the RH side. Flap wheel and grinder will soon sort that out It's wrapped back up and in the loft with the other petrol tanks 😏 Steve
