here is a few pics,i havent had time to do any thing with it yet,the pictures make it look worse than it realy is as nokia camera phone and overcast day, apart from the top fairing needs a repair on the otherside its pretty good,11500 miles, every mot, matching numbers, starts 1st kick and runs spot on,its got a few marks on the frame and swinger but only minor stuff.ive been told it belonged to a fireman and he brought it from a yam dealer with the plate g999*** already on it,strange coinstidance but aparently not a private plate

Looks good. Every MOT ticket is a big plus, and low mileage. Looks like you've got yourself a rock solid bike. Well done. I wish mine was a fast red and white

it should be one to keep as its nice and original, does any body think it would of came with the G999*** number plate from brand new?i thought dvla usually kept them sort of plates back and sold them as "cherished plates",im not realy too clued up on this and never had a fancy numberplate.

gun metal grey would be my 1st choice if there was more around to be picky, all the standard colour schemes were nice in fairness

I tend to think it would have come with that plate originally. The government were quite slow cottoning onto the idea of selling cherished number plates. I don't think they were doing it 20 years ago, though I stand to be corrected. Try entering the number in vehicle enquiry, here: www.taxdisc.direct.gov.uk/EvlPortalApp/index.jsp to see if it sheds any light on your query:

i think your right scruff,im guessing it just just came on the bike when it was regestered on the 22/8/1989.thinking about your theory that dvla didnt cotton on about making money from these so called cherished plates it is usualy only old cars and bikes that came with 5/6 didget and fancy plates,i certainly wouldnt spend my hard earned cash on a cherrished plate i was just interested in the history behind it.
