Those were the days !! Used to get up Box Hill a fair bit back then. It was a great day out. Then it got sanitised and heavily Policed and it wasn't the same afterwards Remember standing on the bank between the car park and the road and watching the impromptu racing and wheelie competitions ! Never saw any serious accidents but there must have been loads I expect - the run from the bottom of the hill through the Mickelham bends was pretty manic, and dangerous !! Dusty

Ah sitting on the bank by the fence watching the bikes, eating burgers. staggered when a full-blown proddy race bike on slicks would turn up with a plate of something gaffa taped the seat unit. that would then vanish if a cop bike or car rolled up. And getting nicked in Leatherhead for speeding on the way home by a copper with attitude!

I got properly nicked there once- 115 mph on my Z1000j. They said it was the fastest they had that day, It wasn't really fair as it was a helicopter with a vascar unit. I wasn't really looking at the sky going through the mickelham bends!

I rode down ranmore common last month for the British two stroke club 90th anniversary.
It was very close to box hill.
I must see if I have any pictures to post.

For a while, there was a picture of me on my YPVS on the board at Rykas.. Had my girlfriend of the time (she was tiny) sat backwards on the back while i was pulling a wheelie.. Got busted about 30 seconds after the pic was taken...

I use to be a motorcycle instructor, always had to say that pillion must face forward, never knew what the actual penalty/fine were though.

I use to be a motorcycle instructor, always had to say that pillion must face forward, never knew what the actual penalty/fine were though. I just googled it and checked the highway code It just states the pillion must sit facing forward with their feet on the foot pegs Highway code doesn't a specific reason but the article I was reading put it down to not being able to see corners approaching to lean Steve
