Hi to everyone on the forum, Picked my LC up about 2 years ago and with the arrival of a new baby, had to put it to one side - no spare time or cash. Well now its time to take the dust sheet off and make a start. I would like to say a big thank you to Vin for the boot load of spares that i collected from him last week, cheers mate. My time hadn't been spent idle, many replacement parts have been collected over the past year or two. Biggest decision now is what color, after seeing Vin's 500, i like satin black for the frame and wheels, better make a decision quick, as the wheels go tomorrow for a good blast and powder coating. Here's a photo of my BSA M20, only does 55mph, but it's great fun Will try and keep everyone posted with my progress and hope you don't find some of my future questions stupid - it's my first LC. Paulo

Hi Paulo. Which direction is the build going? Are you going back to standard or keeping the YPVS engine and clocks etc., and going special?

Hi Paulo. Which direction is the build going? Are you going back to standard or keeping the YPVS engine and clocks etc., and going special? I,ve decided to stay with the YPVS engine, wheels, clocks etc. Like the look of the modified LC's - look great with RR disc and caliper fitted. Paulo

Totally agree Scott, LC11 wheels it is. Acquired a matching front sometime ago, but now have another full set thanks to Vin - have sent the best set to be Powder Coated - new bearing, seals & tyres await there return. If I'm keeping the YPVS engine, then what wiring harness is the best to use - LC or YPVS?, i know some mods are required?

use the pv wiring loom m8 but there is different types for each pv so you need to get the right one for your engine.ain't it already got a loom fitted

Yes, but it's in a right state mate, it's been chopped and jointed all over the place, and most of the connectors are furred up - i think a replace is required. You mention getting the right one, do you get it to match up with the engine type? ie LC11, F1, N1 etc. What are the pattern looms off Norbo like . Paul

you need the right loom to match the stator wiring LC 2 is different to f2 (1UA) prefix check your cdi for model number

another way you could tell is by the swicth gear thats on the bike,31k and f2 are different. fink norbo only does pattern looms for an lc not pv's cause i need an f2 one,he did say he was lookin into it tho so might av em now

Cheers for the info chaps, first off I'll get the engine number to see what spec of motor has been fitted. Then i think i need to confirm Stator, CDI unit etc to see if they all tie up - going off the rest of the bike as I've stripped it down, it's been a right mis mash of bits Paul.

Hi everyone again, I know it's been 12 months since i last posted, but had to pack up the bike or should i say boxes, the arrival of the little one and trying to get into the Fire Service has sucked up all my spare time. Little ones now going on two and looks like the Fire Service is a non starter again - now on a 3 year holding list, so some spare time on my hands. Replacement frame acquired due to when i stripped the bike there was evidence of a repair to the frame and every captive nut had been stripped out. Got my hands on a excellence German frame - not doing a back to original restoration, so OK for my needs - as new condition, but decided to chop off the steering lock - still to plug and weld up. New Metmachex swing arm sourced from Metmachex - not cheap but well worth the money - so YPVS wheel and Rr brake assembly now go straight on to LC frame. Busy looking at the Rr brake master cylinder fit, up to now I've decided to manufacture a brkt and weld it onto the frame - same arrangement as the set up on the LC II. Just waiting for the master cylinder repair kit to arrive, so i can overhaul old part and work out best brkt position. Will post some photo's soon - any advice / help welcomed, it's my first attempt at any thing like this, so just learning as i go, if you think its a crap idea, please let me know Cheers Paul. New Metmachex

Hi Scott, yes still got original frame which had a Rr disc modification when i brought it, but going off the standard of workmanship of the rest of the bike, i'll only be using it as a starting point - maybe proven wrong and this could be the only thing that they got right. Old frame stuck up it the loft, so will dig it out and have a good look again - if i can remember right, the brkt design didn't look too bad. Off on a 5 day Lathe & Milling course with work in a couple of weeks, and have the use of basic machines at work - machine mart stuff - so if i did have to manufacture one from scratch, should be able to manage something. Were you able to just use the original return spring and mounting points between the foot hanger and pedal or did you have to modify to suit ? I don't think this is going to be a 3 week rebuild like some off the chaps are knocking out at the moment, it's going to be more like a 3 year one for me.

my rear brake lever is lc(and spring) with a tab welded onto it to work the master cylinder. lookin at ur top pic it looks like ur's has an f2 brake lever adapted to fit so you could probably use that if it's ok m8
