Nice work as always Ken and as sourcing the missing stuff would make doing a standard resto difficult and expensive, why not go down the special route?

Thanks ozham. I have to admit, yamaha must have produced decent chrome. This kick starter and gear selector looked fairly average. Was looking at decent ones on the internet to buy thinking would be cheaper to get them re chromed. By the way, had a spare lc kick start rubber. Same as the old RD's. Bonus. Spent half an hour gently wire brushing them. they look as good as new.

Citric or phosphoric acid is the best think for those chrome parts ....leave them in dilute concentration for an hour or so and just wash away the brown ! Beats spending ages with a wire brush. Just don’t put near any Ali or zinc plated as It will fizz! Once you’ve tried it you will be looking for things to clean up!

Ive only got a couple of litres left. It's brown from all the rust its already done. It doesnt lose its acidity unless its diluted with water. I keep it next to the sink in the laundry. To much beer.

gGot some zinc plating back today. Decided to whack the head nuts on so i dont lose them . When money scarce theres not a lot to show. Not sure if the head nuts were originally black or silver. I likem like this.

Very nice too Ken. Love the look of the old air cooled engines. Me too Baz. I prefer them to the stock LC engine but some of those trick LC's ones look awesome.

Looking good! is it a 5 or 6 speed box? I remember those old RD's could be changed to 6 speed very easy with a change to the selector, didnt need any stripping. May have been on the YR5/YDS7. one came 5 speed.

All the USA bikes were 6 speed. The early UK 250/350 were 5 speed (as you said 6th there but blanked ) from B onwards and all 400s UK bikes had the new close ratios 6 speed which then carried over onto the LCs

The original one on mine had chain damage and didnt have the spot for the gear pattern decal.

I know im hijacking my own thread here , but im really proud of my dear dort. Another assignment for uni was the tits sheila painting. Anyway , above that painting to the right is a frame with 4 little magazines in them .Its a UK wrestling magazine. she draws them. She makes a few bucks out of it.

Talented lass there Ken Once she is a successful and well known artist, she can keep you in the lifestyle you want Payback for all those years of taxiing her around as a kid lol. I wish my garage looked like yours both decor and content as well!
