a bit of a random question but i recently sold my car to a guy miles away any i pretty sure i left all my bike doccuments in the service history for my car,not good because ive now got no documents for my bike and i think my mot and insurance is due soon. i called the guy who brought my car and i can only get hold of his mrs who wasnt interested in helping me,i offered to send her a tenner for her time sending me my bike docs but i doubt she will bother. how much will the dvla charge me for another v5? also i cant even remember who im insured with and when the policy expires, wot a mess aye,i just hope i dont get pulled by the police and have to explain this .

i think its under a tenner if the bike is already registered in your name £25 if its not have a look on the dvla site all info should be there,as for insurance you'll get a reminder when its due so you should be ok so long as you dont get a puller and you can mot it without the old cert anytime you like they like you to have the log book but if the frame and engine numbers are clearly visible it shouldnt be a problem, hope this helps. sounds a bit of a miserable pig who you sold your car to if it was me i'd have sent them back without being asked.

you can get a replacement MOT certificate too, but you have to pay for it!
If you take it to the place who MOT'd it last they may be able to look it up for you

Find out about the insurance, because if you're stopped and not insured they may seize the bike, and, they can tell if you haven't got insurance through those Automatic Numberplate reader things without even having to stop you, in fact, if they have one fitted to the car they only have to be driving behind you!

i would contact dvla incase they clone your vehicle or use the "plate" for speeding/camera's worth letting them know the situation before any nasty suprises happen good thinking, especialy as the bloke that brought my car was a total wierdo, ive decided to just get a new mot as its due in 2 months,my insurance expires next month so im not going to get a duplicate sent to me as bennets want a £25 admin fee and by the time it arrives it will only have 3 weeks left, just the v5 to sort out. i wish matey who brought my car would just send them to me,i even offered to send him a cheque for his time but he wasnt interested im glad you mentioned about the cloning issue gaz because ive ilready had a load of trouble with a car i scrapped years ago which had its number plates used to run up fines that arrived on my door,il ring dvla and explain
