Wondering if anyone has any pics of their under-the-tank setup? For example, where to put the CDI/fuse/servo. I am assuming you lose the airbox (anyone run without the top half?), and a plate needs to be fabricated...
thanks a lot!

Hi Depending on your set up, I would try and keep the airbox if you can. The first Lc hybrid I built couldn't use an airbox anyway, as a previous owner had fitted a Ypvs style upright shock, and there was no room for the main airbox, and had to run pod filters. This made it easy to site the pv gubbins under the tank on some ally plate; Hybrid rebuild pics (95) by David Miller, on Flickr This was the first fit. It ended up with the other pv components piggy backing on the top of the CDI. All worked well. On my hybrid I was able to keep the airbox so the pv boxes wont fit under the tank. And because I recessed the rear light, I couldn't fit them in the tail which is probably your best option if you leave the rear light standard. So the only place I could fit them is in place of the oil tank; 20170915_171206 by David Miller, on Flickr This is far from ideal as you end up going premix. This has stalled me finishing the orange Lc so far. Ideally I want to re instate the oil pump and tank. Changing to a combined Zeel box will mean 1 less box to find a home for. I would look at homing it all in the tail if you have the room and just extending the wiring Dusty

thanks for that. informative pics. I hate wiring and didn't want to mess about too much with with. It seems I may need to choose between wiring and gas mileage though...
I am on premix now, and would like to avoid that if possible.

Extending wiring to the tail has been done lots by hybrid owners, so no problem doing it from an operational point of view, but a recessed rear light will leave little room so you'll need to consider that. Dusty

Fit my Zeel bits into the tail section... Lotsa room there as the modules are actually quite small. NO wiring mods to the Stock LC loom needed. Although a 5 wire DIY mini harness(cable ?) needs snake from the (PV?) Zeel to the headstock area mounted Servo. Pretty well a straight run... so a no brainer to fit.

Dusty Depends on how you recess the light I think, I have OEBs kit and Ive got my Zeel and my Fan relay/controller in there on my hybrid. Dont forget you can use the OEM CDI point for one box and then youve only got one box to find a space for, thats what I plan to do with my 251LC.

Hi Jon I tried everything with the standard Pv boxes, and nothing was straightforward. I think a combined Zeel will help, and I may have to move the rear light out a bit more, but I would really like to reinstate the oil tank and pump if I can. Dusty

I am thinking of trying both the CDI and the YPVS controller in the battery box area and just extending the battery lines to the tail. I run a small lithium that I think will fit.

Zeel boxes are less than 2" square and ~3/4" thick. You can fit them into a space that would hold a cigarette package. into the behind the seat space.. even if you stuffed the tail light up to your fundamental orifice :-). Without need to extend ANY oem loom wires Small reason to overthink Or complicate a Very Simple fitment.

Splurge onna Zeel you get reliability and tunability. Oem units are often just waiting to die.

this is a budget build... i ride on the street so little. I spend the $ on my track bikes and dirt bike.
so far I have 1600 into it, and that's with new tires and lithium battery.

where does everyone bolt the servo? under the coil I assume I'm looking at this just now Under the coil is the popular place but as I'm not using an airbox I'm experimenting with behind the battery box or under the tank where the upper airbox sits Steve

Anyone have a pic of the under coil bracket?

I made a bracket out of some "L" section steel, pre drilled it and got it welded in; DSCN3918 by David Miller, on Flickr You can make a bolt in version that mounts where the ignition coil mounts to. Dusty

I had a bracket that bolted to the coil as dusty says, then drops it below I bought it from the old forum someone used to make them, i will look and see if i can find a pic of it. i mounted everything else in the tail and extended the wiring.

I made mine with captive nuts, a lot less fiddly:

you chop that off an RZ?

Lol, no I made it, just traced round an RZ one and the cut it out with a saw and some files, then welded the nuts on the back before welding to the bike.

Before I start cutting... is the LC ignition switch plug and play with a 1UA harness? Looks like the LC has an extra wire.

Before I start cutting... is the LC ignition switch plug and play with a 1UA harness? Looks like the LC has an extra wire. 1ua loom has the iggy switch connector under the tank instead of in the headlight bowl so wires may be too short Also 1ua loom has no flexy loop to bend at the headstock They both have 6 wires but the kill switch wire on the 1ua is not in the multi block but on a separate bullet. Easy to make up a wire to connect from the loose bullet and back into the multi connector Steve

I have heard the 1UA is longer too... don't remember that from my last one. Would help as I am about a foot short...
