I have a set of 4L0 00 carbs for sale that are modified (not by me) per the Yamaha recommendation. Someone asked me to show pics showing details of the mod so hopefully the following may help: Yahama recommendation sheet: This pic shows the brass ball has been removed and filled with araldite: The pics show a 3.0mm drill put into the hole so you can see the angle in goes in at, and how deep.

Is it possible I could email photos to someone as this is now ..for me getting even more confusing. Both my carbs have steel balls where you are showing the drill bit, I assume factory fitted One carb non choke side has araldite the other not. The pilot jet I got from wemoto was a problem.
Allen’s show a jet kit for 1980 350lc but I am told the needle jets vary and of course the mains and pilots
If someone is happy to give their email address I will send photographs which will clear up at least a couple of the issue
Thanks again to all who have responded

Better by Whattspp if possible, if not email. i will PM you my details. Please include a pic showing the numbers on the side as important to see if you have 4L0 00 or 4L0 01 type.

Hey Shaun Do you know how deep you have to drill. It looks like there is already a passage (see red line) and I wondered if you only need to drill to this and this already runs through to air jet. Or do you have to drill right down to the air jet? Cheers

Or do you have to drill right down to the air jet? Cheers I haven't measured it, but guess you are drilling 30-40mm downwards at roughly 45 degree to intersect with the hole at 6 o'clock on the air inlet side of the carb. You then fill the inside hole at the inlet with araldite, but make sure the passageway into the emulsion tube area is clear before you seal it up, and don't put in too much sealer so as to block the passageway you just created.

My early JDM 4U0 carbs have the passages drilled with balls fitted.

My early JDM 4U0 carbs have the passages drilled with balls fitted. Looks similar to the UK/Euro later 4L0 01 type.

Looks similar to the UK/Euro later 4L0 01 type. Yeah this JDM import bike is a bit of an odd one. 4L0-00 carbs as shown, tie bars, early cyls with notched exhaust ports, one cyl with early exhaust gasket cutout, no fork drain bolts, etc.
