Got my carbs sorted out by Dave ( Muttsnuts )
Bike starts 2nd kick and ticks over a lot better than when I first got it Dave did say I would be able to bolt them on and it would ready to go he wasn’t wrong just needed to bring the tickover down 100 rpm

Are you using some sort of clip on digital meter to be able alter the tick over by such a small amount then? With such old tachos etc, how can you see 100 revs in the first place??

Sounds good Big Al. On the 400E was the zeros filled in on the side panels?

Big Al I believe that to be right, but stand to be corrected. If you have a look on the Aircooled forum I think there is a model guide which illustrates the changes between each bike. You should be able to view that section as a guest.

Very nice bigal, I just sent a set of 2R9 carbs to Dave this week, so looking forward to him working his magic on them.

I were thinking of something like this, it's been many years since I've used it, anyone else bought one back in the day?

A timing/strobe light is a garage tool that hardly gets used nowadays too. How things change hey.

I think 1A3-33 is F. 1A3-32 is E. Decals can easily be wrong unless it’s original. Normally the F had red wheels, E had black, F had dog leg levers (similar to LC shape but in natural alloy not black). There’s a few small differences but key point is it’s a 2R9. AL’s bike has also got the continental seat with grab rail, we didn’t have that here in Uk.

Sorry to be an anorak but my understanding is that E models are 1A3-30xxxx whilst F models are 1A3-33xxxx.

You might be right ! Thanks for pointing it out if it’s the case. I Will check somehow but I agree and know for sure that -33 is an F as that’s what mine is.

My 1978 E model is definitely 1A3-300xxx, as was my previous one but maybe that is just for Oceania bikes?
