Need advice lads, my right hand barrel (31k) is stuck. but only on one stud, the front right beside water pump. the back two are free as is the front left, you can pry the barrel up on all three corners. i have tried oil, 3 days and nights now, then a blow torch. but i'm afraid ill break the top crankcase is i get too agricultural with it. any tricks of'the trade would be much appreciated before i smash up my shed. thanks lads.

Build a well around it from blue tack and fill it with coke (fizzy drink stuff ) and leave it a day or two

50/50 mix of ATF and acetone (nail varnish remover) works well

Apart from keep tapping gently with a rubber mallet, I can't think of anything to add really.

Haha, that has taken a beating !! Just be careful as I have seen barrels with a broken casting around the exhaust studs before - probably for the same reasons. Could you use a jack and position something into the exhaust port - cut down wooden broom handle or something like it - and jack it up so there is some upward pressure on the barrel ? Not enough to lift the bike off the floor but enough to take some of it's weight ?

I’ll see how the coke works out. A few days, then I’ll jack it

I have a feeling the aluminium has mushroomed into the hole. Causing the hole to hang up on the studs thread. Can you fix two nuts on it and try to screw the stud out?

I appreciate your trying allkinds. I saw a video the other day and brake fluid appears to work the best for penetrating oil. It was tested against a lot of other canned options.. Hope you win this battle... Regards E

Care.. with trying to unscrew that stud These have a propensity to snap off .. rather easily (yup I've done a few ) Possibly even more easily if the thing is corroded to the cyl base

Sorry, but I cant see brake fluid helping.
I think you need to heat the alloy of the cylinder up to expand it, then lever it up off the stud.

IF it is what I quoted it will be mechanically stopped by the thread. You explained that you could move it on the other three corners. This would in my opinion suggest it's not tight. The way to see if my suggestion is correct would be to loosen the stud. If you can loosen the stud (as in screw it out a turn or 2) the barrel would become looser and more movable. If the aluminium has deformed into the hole it will make the diameter of the hole smaller causing the aluminium burr to stop the threaded stud to pass through the smaller hole.
