Now Arrow has helped me sort out the incorrect fitting of the oil pump just one last thing to fix.
The bike (250lc 4L1) starts first kick when its cold and when its hot; so if i stall it or the tickover gets to slow and it stalls then it starts straight away, again 1st kick..
If you ride the bike and let it cool down for say 30 mins then its reluctant to start and takes several kicks to get it back into life. It runs great and revs well but i cant figure out why it becomes tempramental at starting when its warm??
Any ideas anyone?
Cheers

One of mine is a bit like that in the summer. 2 kicks when cold 2 kicks when hot But sometimes a bit temperamental in between temps. I put it down fuel evaporating from float bowls if left for 30mins or so. Seems to help if I turn fuel on whilst I put helmet and gloves on then kick it. Baz

Most 2-strokes have that temperature that they don't really want to start without choke, but want to choke up the second you you give it choke lol. Doesn't sound like a problem really, give it a couple of kicks without choke, if no joy, pull the choke out and give it 2 or 3 brisk kicks and she'll be alive. Standard 2-stroke character

To eliminate the float bowls theory, have you tried leaving the fuel tap on the 'on' position?
It's been years since I've had a bike with such a fuel tap, back in the day I do recall seeing fuel on the floor from the overflow pipes once, after forgetting to turn the tap off so I don't recommend doing that regularly.

Try turning the pilot screw quarter of a turn in, try it, then quarter turn out and see if that improves it.

DO ! a compression test.. twice. Possibly your engine is down on compression (clapped?)
