Evening gents,I have this engine no barrels or head and pulled it apart today. The query I have is when I took the gearbox apart there were four shift forks inside,I thought there were only meant to be 3 and being a novice at this I am a bit confused,it also has a stator plate and I thought it would of been points.I bought it at a sale about 15yrs ago so have no knowledge of it,so any pointers would be much appreciated. Many thanks Mick

Rd250 aircooled. Gear box is basically the same as every rd250/350/400 and recognisable as dna for the LC. Points were on the A-D, stator and cdi on E-F. Ie the 2R8 So think yours is a E, f was 22 if I recall Either way, correct top end is 2R8, same with carbs oil pump will have 2R8 on pulley too

Hi Yea, 4 shift forks is correct. I've got an aircooled bottom end rebuild thread somewhere - done a good few years ago now. If I can find the pics I will post them for you Still a simple engine to build though Dusty

Sorry to hear that Mick I don't ride much now either. In fact I haven't had a bike insured for a good couple of years now. I get a lot of fun from building though. Maybe consider that - keeps you involved, and at your pace Good luck Dusty

I wish I could Dusty, but the body will not let, discs are all worn down in my neck and the slightest jolt or lifting seems to set it off, when your young you overdo things at work and now it seems to be payback time.By the way love your orange LC that is a sweet bike,as are your others.Cheers mate Mick
