I managed to sort the previous bad running by putting a second set of carbs on (it had been fitted with RD400 carbs) and it ran reasonably well however I came to it a few days later and it wouldn't kick. Eventually got it started but it was kicking far too much smoke out and backfiring. It was dripping black oil from the exhausts at the downpipe junction and there is excessive oil at the ends of both pipes. When I have taken the right hand carb I can see 2T oil in the venturi and the fuel in the bowl was green with 2T oil. Surely gravity is not going to push the oil through the pump then on into the venturi and into the float bowl? The fuel is not premix and the left pot is ok. I checked the plugs and the left is fine but the right wet with oil. I seem to have lost quite a bit of oil from the tank and some has leaked onto the engine casing and through onto the ramp. I cant see where the oil has leaked from and there is no obvious drip. I can only assume its from the oil pipe inlet but that doesn't explain the oil in the float bowl. If the oil is escaping into the venturi then may it also be getting into the sump and if so will it burn out or will it be forced through the seals or cause any other nasties. Thoughts?

RD350 are well known to use a high portion of oil. More as they need. But your description reads like you fill up your motor with oil during parking. This might happen if your check valves in your pump are not closing. May be due to dirt or something. You can easy test this if you pull your oil lines and let them end in a box or something clean where you can see if oil is dripping out over the time. Regards Siggi

Does sound like the 2T has drained into the carbs. In addition to what sispeed suggested, you could also try run on premix for a bit to determine what it should or could run like.

It will be the check valves passing oil
Best send the pump to arrow for a rebuild
Check valves are one thing, scored internals will do more than just burn a bit of oil
