A good if not better option to swapping you perfectly good Mikuni carbs for any other brand is to bore out the VM 26, these can safely go out to 28mm and give a smooth bore carb as a result. This is straight forward to do if you have a lathe and has gone on for years in two stroke racing plus you get to keep the original look of the bike. I have done this numerous times with good results.

A lot of these carbs are worn out by now? If you got a good set,not a bad idea. But they still round slides so don’t benefit from flat slide advantages.

I don’t think the VM26 can be bored to 30mm.
Aren’t they 28mm slides from memory?
I think the earlier 28mm carbs were 30mm slides, so I’d possibly bore to 29mm.

Boring Carbs for a wee Size increase ...without incurring the Cost of a Larger Carb.. OLD idea tho. I did a few in 1967 Barely worth the candle though. Haven't ever thought of doing it again :-) One risks messing up both the side of Slide sealing AND the bottom of the bore jetting interface.
