www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C1006772The vendor recently tried to start it but although there was power to the electrics he could not get a spark so some recommissioning is required. This rare machine was ordered in July of 1984 by James Todd of Bishop Auckland and he took delivery on the 1st April 1985 for the sum of £3,270 from Harry Woods of Newcastle upon Tyne. He rode it sparingly until 1992 when the MOT expired and as his health had become an issue it was parked up with a mileage of 4,609. After he passed away in May 2015 it was transferred to his brother who has stored it since. Totally original except for the off side wing mirror which was damaged when it fell over (a pattern part is fitted but the original is included in the sale

Would be interesting to see what it sells for. Should not take too much to get fired up but would you chance actually using it after being stood for so long? or would an engine rebuild be first on the list as crank seals etc will no doubt be shot and possible rusting of the cranks. Nice bike though and probably worth a punt if I had the money as probably one of lowest mileage and original ones you are likely to find nowadays.

Yeah, should be interesting to watch indeed. Agree it will need a bit of attention however as you say, a rare low mileage original example which is just crying out for a new home.

And an expensive engine rebuild on top for piece of mind , it doesn’t look a very good deal unless it goes cheap , which I expect it won’t.

Spoken to the Auction house
"We charge 15% including vat buyers premium. We are off site at noon on the Monday so would need it collecting by then or it can stored in Driffield for a short period but there is a £30 plus vat uplift fee"
So at say it ends at £12,500 it would cost £14,375
Says including VAT so that's in the £14,375
If it said PLUS VAT it would cost even more

Reading link and conditions I think as Norbo has said above is correct. So to me say Sale price - £12,500 plus sellers 15% fee - 1,875 plus 20% VAT on sellers fee - 375 sub total of above - 14,750 plus VAT 20% on £14750 - 2,950 Grand total -- - £17,700
I might be wrong and do not know why they should charge VAT on the sale anyway.

I think the VAT is being misunderstood slightly ?.
The VAT is only applied to the Buyers Fee, not on the sold item (unless it's a commercial item and the VAT has been reclaimed previously)
Even if you buy a Commercial "VAT" applicable item, VAT is only payable by the buyer if it's previously been reclaimed by the current owner if VAT registered
So if a private or non-VAT registered person buys and item and pays the VAT, when they sell it, the VAT has already been paid and not re-claimed, there will be no VAT to pay. I.e it's only paid once on an item, if not reclaimed, then it's not applied again.
Dunno if that makes sense ? lol
