Yes that's worked for me before too...but there's fuel in the cylinders..probably too Much after half hour kicking over. Going to change out the fuel tomorrow..

Reason for engine removal? As you know 3 things needed for combustion, fuel, compression and ignition (at the right time)

Reason for engine removal was holed piston due to air leak...

Feel your pain, spent half an hour trying to start my tsx
Really need to sort the carb. If you don't get it in 2 kicks it floods. Only had my trainers on so was a bit of a wimp
Then the crankcase got fuel in them from the dodgy float needle
Took plug out and it's soaking
Pair of gloves on, blow torch on plug to get it hot then fit quick and kick it over with boots on and eventually left
Then spent 20 minutes catching the fuel it was leaking out the exhaust joint ☹
Leave your bike for a while with the plugs out and kick over with fuel off every now and then
Steve

I’ve started a few stubborn ones with a few shots of “easy start”. Once running you can generally keep them going until they clear, unless there’s another problem.

Had a similar problem, if you've tried to kick start it you've probably filled the crank case and cylinders with fuel ie overcharged them
I took out the plugs cleaned them and dried them off, they were wet and covered in oil, gave the kick starter about 6 pushes with my hand with the plugs out to empty the overcharge squirted some rapid start in each barrel, put the plugs back in and kick started as normal and away she went
Other suggestions is the coil pick up not working at the correct time ie timing, which is probably the direction Mutts is going so I'll hand over to him

so update on this, made no sense to me at all....so i ended up pulling off the carbs and putting a squite of easy start in and it immediately fired up, quickly hit to kill switch to stop it over revving.
at this point i also changed back to standard jets from 25 and 280, back together and got it to kind of run, but still very badly, and would not tick over, turned out i had the carb sliders in the wrong carbs....so they were in backwards, as soon as they were back in the correct carbs fired up and ticked over.
