Anybody have a spare set for sale or have an idea if any of the LCs fit or the RD 400 for that matter. There don't seem to be many/any about

James, the stansion diameter is different to the LC and the calliper fixing is different to later coffin tank bikes but you can put coffin tank forks C/D into the early bikes if you change the calliper. Or a whole E/F front end. I wouldn’t use LC front end as it flexes enough in an LC and would do so even more on the heavier 74 bike.
Best options are to get the old stansions rechromed, get new aftermarket ones from Norbo, or find some useable second hand ones if you are not looking for A1. I know who to ask if you want second hand.

Thanks I don't have any as the bike was bought as a box of bits which unfortunately included a few 400 parts as well so I have a 400 swingarm which I will have to sell or swap for a 250. I am not looking to start it until Oct as I have a 1974 350b and a 1985 LC to sort. I just happen to have had the opportunity to buy all three for a good price. So I am in the market for second hand forks and numerous other bits LOL

You can fit 31K forks into RD400E/F yokes, as both 35mm diameter. Different callipers, wheel etc, but can get AC wheel to fit as Gaz Attenborough did it on his RD430. Would need a different calliper and bracket making to make it all fit.

YPVS forks go straight on with the YPVS yokes. Done it twice now Alex ...and you get twin discs!

I think James is trying to collect parts to restore the round tank 250. Not sure he has fully charged off down the special route yet. Stansions are compatible with the early fork leg right up to 250D, Change the fork legs and you can’t use the original mudguard. Sure he’ll be back along soon to clarify direction.

Yes Pete you are correct as usual. The bike was a box of bits, a rebuilt engine, a frame and back wheel. Most of the other parts I will have to source. It is the 250/350 forks I need and front wheel. My intention is to see if I can find excellent condition ones then replace the good ones on the 350. Once I have done that I will sell the 250 and end up with a really nice 350. Well you do need a plan
