I would like to change the fork oil oil on my 250LC as I do not know how long the oil has been in them. Is it a difficult job to do ?. There seems to be a screw near the bottom of each fork leg that could be the drain, If this is the drain would I then be able to fill the forks with the correct amount of oil through the top of the forks by removing the top cap?. What fork oil are people using or are you using 10/30 like my manual says . Any advise would be welcome , Thanks Dave

Yes the drain bolt at the bottom of each fork, and yes you fill from the top just remove your circlip and top cap. As for fork oil weights it varies, if you want to stiffen up the front end a bit use a little heavier. The stock forks are like a pogo stick I run hyperpro fork springs in the front makes a big difference

Best to Take the forks apart for a good 'condition' inspection and subsequent repair work. OR if you couldn't care less? At least flush out the forks with a refill or 2 of Auto trans fluid

Sorry for slight thread hijack, but looking at the 350LC fork legs I bought from an autojumble a few years ago found that only one leg has a drain bolt ? They both appear to be 350LC and are the same length.
(In preparation for fitting them to the complete 350LC I have just acquired, dry stored for 8 years after the front brakes seized on , complete but much bodged , aiming for on the road in spring, just fixing what needs to be done to run properly, cosmetics can wait, or it will end up like the half built hybrid in the loft "Long Term Project" ),
