Hi guys this is my first post I have just got a rd 400dx and looking for a very good set of standard exhaust if any body has a set kicking around they would be interested in getting rid of drop me a line thanks Andy

Hard to find, no easy solution but they are in the USA and expansion chambers are always an option.

You might be better off posting this on the Aircooled RD forum, as I know David James (RDJames) has some NOS ones up for sale recently and they weren’t unreasonably priced iirc.

If you are on a very tight budget you need plan B !
Even scruffy std. pipes are not easy to find.
At the end of the day one reason a tidy 400 is worth a bob or two is because the parts are so expensive. It can’t work that you can build a bike for less than the sum of the parts. In fact most times with so much chrome on them those bikes cost more to build up that they are worth. The exceptions being the cream of the crop.

Its also worth checking exactly what your bike should have as the earlier c and d pipes are a lot cheaper and a lot of DX models people buy are actually D's

Iam lost to which it should have now are c d & dx not the same ? I thought they only changed when the mounting of the foot rest changed ? Cheers
