Forgive me if this has been done before , but I'm trying to get a year of manufacture from my 9 digit vin number on my German frame 4l0 .
The Yamaha online check tool is asking for 17 digits
How do you put just 9 digits in ?
Thanks in advance

If it's to register it either contact Paul Dawkins and pay for a dating cert or contact Yamaha customer services and for 40 quid they will send you a dating letter that DVLA will accept.
Can you not guess the year by whether the number starts 0,1,2 or 3

Great to have this tool, but I would air a word of caution….the output is only as good as the database behind it. Top marks to guggen75 for creating the tool but unfortunately the official Yamaha data it’s drawing from ,probably the same as that pdf on Xalivers www.rd350lc.net/Yamaha%20Modell_Index_1958-2008%20VIN%20Elsies.pdf Contains many errors on the older bikes…. So for example the uk 250LC for all three years shows as USA….

Hey reedpete! It's not from the same document, but the oldest data is probably the same. I'm not sure that Yamaha even has correct data for all old models. Thats the life of classic vehicles

Yamaha are repairing their lost data but still much is missing or wrong.

Xavier I'm sure you are right This search cover all Yamaha models from 1960 to 2010, so for the RD/RZ models, your tool is probably better!
