Didn't document the resto since there was not much to do, but here's my 1984 48H - 7000 miles from new, all original paint (barrels were painted tho). Number 73 of 19,900 made. I got it a few months ago but just got chance to go through it recently. Carbs ultrasoniced, brass balls out (airway was clean inside anyway) and jetted it correctly with 420 mains. When I got it, it had a Y boot with K&N filter, and HVC pipes fitted, and i left them on. Midrange seems pretty good (haven tridden a stock YPVS to compare), it pulls from 6500 and comes on strong at 7500. Will rev out easily to 11,000, maybe a touch more but I can't bring myself to do it to a stock crank. (I am assuming the rev counter is correct but its low mileage and the needle is steady so it may well be accurate). I checked the oil pump clearance and put new oil lines on it just to be safe. I put new EBC pads in the front (seals were good) and flushed front and rear brakes. Front brake is surprisingly good despite keeping the original rubber lines... wouldn't bother me doing a track day even with the std brake lines. I replaced the leaking shock with a used one, again, keeping the originality, even though a Nitron would be far better. Forks had Racetech emulators in when I bought it and the front end feels good.
I am keeping the 48H carbs since the bike is so original, but they are a pain in the arse when you want to change needle position, since they are single cable/pulley type. They have Dynojet needles in which seem to work fairly well. I may put the original pipes back on one day, but liking the sound and rev limit of the pipes that are on it - reminds me of my old TZ days.
Cheers,
Don
