Did post this photo elsewhere recently until photobucket did the dirty. So just trying out Flickr after reading MarkHoopy's excellent guide. The bike looked OK when I bought it, then I realised it needed a fair bit doing, so I probably paid too much to relive my 2-stroke youth. So over the winter / spring, stripped the bike down learning as I go!! Its now had the engine rebuilt (rebore, recon crank, clutch, powervalve bushes), repainted, crankcases & barrels. I stripped and painted the frame on my drive with aerosols (not ideal but happy with results!) and used the greenhouse as a spray booth for most of the black bits again using aerosols! [Much to the disgust of my wife who wanted to get the tomatoes in there.] Rebuilt rear suspension, with 2nd hand swing arm (stripped and painted) and shock. Rebuilt the brakes (seals, some new pistons etc) and put on some 2nd hand Goodridge hoses - and the brakes actually work well now(they didn't!), so not seeking further upgrades there. Most new bits from Norbos or Fowlers and 2nd hand bits from someone locally who is doing an F2 hybrid. Tried to keep it looking standard and in two minds whether to put lower fairing on or not. I know its no quite up to other builds on here (I'm totally in awe of Yamark's RD550Lc triple build) but perhaps OK for a novice! The goal was to finish it to take to this year's IOM TT, I made it with 2 days to spare and ran it in up there. So now just sorting out some niggles with the carburation, with help form elsewhere on this great forum, which I wish I'd found earlier in the build.

Mark, don't undersell yourself - cracking build mate. Looks mint. You don't see too many in that colour.
Thanks for posting
Cheers, Mark

nice build , did the wife get her way with the tomatoes ,or is it now a bike greenhouse , Yes, but made a great spray booth for right temperature for paint to go off. and then the tomatoes went in, so had to be masked off! Some people grow toms but I like to grow bean-cans!

Love the green house idea, might try that one myself although I don't know how the wife would take it as she is a keen grower and I already have 99 % of the garage and shed. Great looking bike mate.

do like those colours and congratulations on your build. A cracking job, particularly learning as you go.
