Hi guys I'm looking to buy an rd400, any advice on which model I should be looking at?? And if anyone has one tucked away they would consider selling look forward to your replies thanks pete.

You will probably get different answers from peeps on this question tbh, as some prefer the earlier models, whilst others the later ones. In truth, any 400 should be a good ownership experience but prices are on the rise and good bikes command good money.
You will pay more for a matching numbers machine, as they are deemed to be the most desirable by many but if you are simply looking to enjoy the ownership experience, then that will allow you to look at other options.
The later bikes are supposedly a little more powerful and have standard features like electronic ignition but the earlier bikes are reputed to be smoother and have more midrange.
I guess the bottom line here is it depends on what you are looking for and how much you are prepared to spend. I personally have a E (project) and G model (restored) so prefer the later models but would certainly not be averse to owning an earlier model if the right opportunity presented itself.
