Matching number C's are catching up with the later models from what I have read on here of late, so such an original bike wouldn't be cheap if being peddled by EBay chancers.
If is as nice as you suggest why not try a cheeky offer and negotiate from there? With such low miles in all those years though, just bear in mind that you may well need to replace crank seals etc, so it might not be a ride away proposition.

It's uk reg and being used gently now I'm not keen on colour if I painted it in Yamaha red or blue would it affect value as non original 👍

Colour is a subjective thing I guess Will but as you say non-originality can and probably will affect its value to some some degree.
I really want to paint my 400E project yellow but will no doubt go with the original white, as we never got the yellow colour scheme here in Oz more's the pity.
Don't worry about the colour, bikes like that don't come up often and I am sure it will be a nice ride regardless.

Trade ins are always valued at bottom price as that's the price you pay for convenience. What's the chrome like? That's where a lot of value lurks or can be eroded.

Sounds like something of a must-buy if the price is right then Will! That's how I ended up with a Honda 400-4 in my collection, 1 owner from new and just 10,000 kms on the clock. I couldn't say no really and it is nice to have something different to tinker with too.
Good luck and hope you get a nice result.

I got a 400c recently it’s been lying in a garden for 9years so you can imagine the state of it To be fair managed to get it running quite easily.. but its real rough Over last few days i have been pricing up spares to start restoring it With a mixture of gen and aftermarket parts , paint, tyres , set of expansions (as standard ones mental price) Chrome, plating etc etc I reckon im not going to have much change out of £4000 if im lucky I think the bike you have been offered sounds good so snap it up
Good luck rod
