hello to all, ive just bought a swiss 1986 ypvs rd125, which I believe is a mk3 ?? anyways I'm after some decent rubber, ive looked through the forum on tyre size etc and a lot of people say that they use a 90/90 on the front and a 100/90 on the rear which is the tyre size on my bike at the mo, now to contradict that my genuine yammy manual states that the front should be 80/100 - 16 45p and the rear is 90/90 - 18 51p, now either my manual has been misprinted or there is a reason owners use different size tyres, I would appreciate any info as I'm sure if a different size front tyre is used it would alter the speedo reading ?? also bigger rear would alter overall tranny gearing ?? HELP !!
cheers in advance

owners use different sizes as the original sizes are hard to get or some people think they look too skinny . I like the original sizes so use Dunlop K388s. There is a Michelin M45 that is close to the original front size and doesnt look too bad, also Michelin pilot sporty has a close front size.. IRC do the correct factory sizes but they come from Asia and shouldnt pass the MOT

hi museumman thanks for the reply, ive found a pair of Dunlop k388 tyres a rear 90/90 18 and a front 80/100 16 front can I take it then there is no misprint in my manual and that these are the correct tyres for this model, I'm inclined to go for these dunlops as the tyres I have are cheap crap things and although the correct size are smaller than those I have fitted it should handle better with a pair of dunlops
cheers bob

yeah these are the correct sizes, they are probably the most expensive option too. I think Yamaha mostly used Dunlops on their new ones
