Just done rebuild of complete bike - (all new seals and bearings etc.) - 1 cylinder doesn't fire enough/correctly. Fitted on rebuild, new Banshee coils, cables & plugs etc. The cylinder fires but 'not enough'. Swapped over plugs, coils and HT cables and the cylinder still the same. Being a complete rebuild with everything new I am left with lack of compression on the one cylinder, which I have to check!! - The exhaust is a lot cooler on this cylinder than the other, except that it means compression check - are there other bits I should be looking at?. It could also be broken rings on fitting (by me!!!)

Low side coil on stator, measure the resistance and compare to the readings in the manual (listed on here in several places too so a search will reveal the numbers) Carbs clean and no blocked jets? Spark plugs swapped over too? Compression teat to see if equal on both sides?

As the bike had been stored for 18+ years - it is a nut and bolt rebuild. Stator was taken to 'West Country Windings' for checking and it was found to be good. Coil, leads and plugs have all been renewed - Fitted double Banshee Coils (from Norbo) obviously with new leads and plugs - did swap these over when I started it - and found not running correctly - just the same either way. Carbs were Sonic cleaned and fully rebuilt with new bits again. When I got the bike (in bits) the cylinders had already been rebored and I had the new pistons and rings. The only thing I don't know is whether the Head/Cylinder surface were levelled but, no leakage from there seen from running. I cannot see any leakage from around the cylinders - so its going to be compression test to find reason and hopefully an easy remedy, I don't think I broke any rings when fitting cylinders - but that would be easy answer!!

Got to go back to low-side on stator!!! - carbs have been cleaned, plug leads swapped over during running and actual plugs changed (Fitted individual Banshee coils which included leads and caps) - did compression test and both show just about 110psi - and both are the same. So I have to go back to checking/question carbs and Stator reading, this didn't give results/readings of manual or RD Site (BUT WHY ONLY ON ONE CYLINDER - EVEN THOUGH I SWAP LEADS? (which includes coil change etc))

Swap the carbs over and blank off the balance pipes
At least then you'll know if it's the carbs

I had this problem on a new build a few years ago, I spent half a day swapping bits around only to find out that I'd put the carb slides in the wrong way round lol,,

Sorry for delay - but took carbs off and checked (SLIDES IN WRONG CARB - THEREFORE BACK TO FRONT) now changed over - float heights checked again - funny enough runs quite well now!!! (School boy error, but at my age nowhere near school boy !!!!)
