Started to strip the engine and had a right time getting the head away from the barrel. When I eventually got the head off there were three metal head gaskets fitted and signs of slight damage to the outer water jacket top face on the barrel. The barrel face around the cylinder liner looks ok. So, does anyone know the height of the barrel as I was wondering if the barrel has been skimmed and the gaskets are to compensate for that or does anyone know why the extra head gaskets were fitted. One of the gaskets is 1mm thick and the other two are 0.3mm thick.

Some of the pattern gaskets are actually several pieces of metal sandwich. It's probably one of those.
