Bought myself a new helmet recently, as usual its an Arai an Arai Chaser V to be exact. Anyway whilst out for a Sunday jaunt over the weekend couldn't help but notice quite a lot of wind noise coming through to the point where I'm thinking this isn't doing my hearing any good at all and its bad enough without making it any worse ! Closed all the vents for the return trip home but little or no difference to the noise level. By contrast the wife bought a new Shark carbon fibre helmet last week and commented on how very quiet it was. Now I've always bought a quality helmet usually Arai as I have a very expensive head but was wondering what everyone else wears and how quiet are they? Don't want to spend hundreds on a new helmet only to find its no better than the one I have. Just for the record always wear ear plugs, even had a pair made to measure type ones but irritate the hell out of my ears ! Any suggestions/recommendations welcome. Cheers

I have to wear ear plugs when I ride. My FJ's windscreen directs the air right at my head.

Everyone's head is different but I've never found anything that is perfect. I've found it gets worse with age (mine not the helmets) I can do local runs on the LC fine but if I was doing any distance or riding one of the bigger bikes I always wear ear plugs.

Arai's are not necessarily the quietest but are certainly one of, if not the most safest lid you can buy. Good quality ear plugs 👍🏼

Good quality ear plugs 👍🏼 Always bought Arai for the fact that they are one of if not the best and did invest in some made to measure type ones at the bike show a couple of years ago. However they irritate the hell out of my ears and when I rang them to inform them of this fact they just said I must have sensitive ears and that was that. No offer of returning them for a refund, complete waste of money !
