Another question for you guys, what engines will fit into my mk1 1984 LC? I've done a few bits to the bike but can't afford now to resore it to original spec so I'm thinking of a custom job. I've got a 1GU RD engine and a tzr 2RK engine which is the better of the 2, will any of these fit in my frame without much modification? Any hints, tips and help would be greatly appreciated! Cheers.

RD engine will fit but don't think TZR will. Biggest problem is the swingarm pivot on the RD goes through the back of the engine.

The tzr engine is currently in an old DT frame with a very very similar swing arm to the rd and the pivot bolt also runs through the engine and swing arm. I will do some measurements the week and see how we go!

For a custom bike I would put the 1GU in and make it a working YPVS MK1 (on my list of things to do) . I'm not sure you'll be saving money in the end. You'll need looms, CDis to suit the new motor. The 1GU CDis are harder to get than the 10W MK1.. You can crack open the 1GU bottom end and change the con-rod and balance shaft then fit a MK1 top end. would probably be more cost effective so long as you have a good MK1 stator
