Hi, my sons lc, well its actually mine but I am a generous dad,it's spark has gone. It was caught out in bad rain, but I got it started and my son rode it to work. He got a few miles, when he heard a loud bang ( backfired) and it started to run slow and finally stopped. I have changed the battery as it was knackered, but there is still no spark. I have checked the coil and it seems fine( resistance reading), so I think it could be the CDI, can this be checked? Cheers Rob

Bloody ignition problems- been there and my knackered CDI still had a spark. The CDI can be tested, yet its a bench test with the stator and flywheel sent off. Have you tested the stator windings- and pick up coil, they can fail and checked for earths? Great to hear your son has the RD spirit- despite no spark

Fault found I think. Low speed coils resistance Ok, high speed coils no reading. Next step to price up a new coil set Rob

They wont ripp you off- they will do a bench test, and if the stator is ok they will only charge for the test. Forum members have used them and given good feedback. Just explain your symptons and listen to their advise.

Excellent service by West Country windings. They have confirmed my fault diagnosis and it is the high speed coil. All the other coils are particularly happy either, so a full refurb for about £140. Thanks for all the suggestions, it certainly helped me find the fault. Rob
