Hi, I think this was a mod you could do back in the day . I think you could get fork tops with the valves fitted or you could fit valves in the std tops.

Does anyone know what the mod is supposed to do and the air pressure setting. If its like my mx bikes this valve is to bleed the air out ; not to put more in

Likely a DIY attempt at air (spring) assisted forks Like those on some later 350's. Waste of time imo. Even on the oem setups, the air leaks down in a couple or 3 days. Constant hassle to keep up with it and the air volume is So small that even a bicycle pump is over kill. That said bicycle loons now have air assisted forks and Low volume Forks pumps are available in their shops.

Hi You could buy a kit, back in the day, that enabled you to fit shraeder valves to your forks. It included a gauge and pipework so both forks got the same amount of air. I bought the kit - probably from M&p but never fitted it. Alternatively, what you have is maybe a diy job someone has done. Any pics of it ? Dusty

Yep, deffo a period mod you could fit. Don't ask me if it made any difference, I was 17 at the time and only interested in wheelying everywhere I had them on my (not fitted by me) first 350LC in 1984 Not great pics but you can see it.

Yup a DIY bodge. Ignore it / pretend it's not there.
