Littleport youth bike club 1st project

Hi guys i run a youth club teaching local kids how to fix motorbikes and we have built 2 DT125lc, a mk1 and mk2.

The mk 1 is on the road now,
The mk 2 is nearly done just need some more NOS panels.
We are just starting a new project below.

The mk1 was pulled out a field, its a 1982 10V full power last on the road in 1986.

Everyone thought I was mental but its now rebuilt, matching numbers on original reg number.

This was the first year the club was run and this bike helped show what local kids are capable of.






As you can see there wasn't a lot left but enough for me to see potential.

The stripping began,


Some bits where beyond repair

The cases where aqua blasted then all new bearings and seals, replacement crankshaft barrels, piston and head



All rebuilt

All the parts where blasted and powder coated, bolts zinc coated or stainless steel.


The forks and shock where sent of and re-chromed ect
Again all new bearings and seals seals.

We took the bike to our first local motorbike show, raised some interest.

We had the original tank repaired and painted.


It has now got a mot and runs like a new bike, it now live in my showroom in my workshop. I will get some better photos when i can.



Please remember that the kids built 99% of the bike and our club only runs during school term times, so 38 weeks on a Thursday evening from 7-9pm

Thanks mate thats nice, I'm lucky enough to have an amazing wife that supports me and between us we run the club, we have managed to raise some grants over the last 3 years but that doesn't even to begin to cover the costs involved.
