Quick pic of mine with overlay fitted. Mines not a show pony, puts a right grin on my chops every time I ride it though. Cant tell that its a "wrong" console And as for "original" finish.... If you want that true authentic paint finish on the frame....strip it then leave it outside for a day for it to develop a fine mist of rust. Then get a black gloss rattle can and give it a quick one coat, paying no particular attention to the welds or hard to get to places....hey presto, factory finnish!! My first LC was only 500 miles old and swinger was already needing a paint.

I'd rather have "not quite right" than "no longer available"

Not every bolt was green on them I purchased the bike via ebay from a member on this forum and apparently it's totally original and not been restored, the bolts that secure clutch mounting and front brake master cylinder are all drab olive green, including top clutch adjuster and the lever bolts the same! apart from the front brake lever which had suffered a bit of brake fluid spills and corrosion around this area from changes in the past i guess , so hence the desire to get a drab green replacement. It also has drab green indicator fixing bolts and bottom yoke.. so bit confused.com, i would like to keep it as original as poss. If all else fails i will just get it coated to match. Thanks Norbo for advise.

Mines only had the tinware painted if you need any more pics, not 100% sure it's all original as there are 2 clips missing for the cables on the handlebars as it came with drop bars.

as above , But people do like there standards . May be back when new they were green but as long as i have been selling them they have been black . Side stand bolts have gon from green to black so have back peg brackets . But as already said better then being NLA like so many parts are now

I agree Norbo' Standards are an important factor... The drab olive green bolts etc are placed on other parts of my bike as can be seen in pic.. i wouldn't dream of turning such an great example bike into a Hybrid/Bittsa/mongrel as others have done.

Yes they are an important factor like you say and if they aren't right then they ain't right and there is no middle ground either

Yes they are an important factor like you say and if they aren't right then they ain't right and there is no middle ground either My view too. 100% correct won't make it faster, handle or stop better or any more fun than a well worn non matching numbered LC but for me a large part of the pleasure is building the thing and fussing over the details. Maybe my childhood was lacking or something
