Won an auction for a set of Allspeeds for a really good price, seller then decided to cancel the sale. I phoned Ebay and they say there is nothing they can do as they are not in possession of the items.
Seller cited reason for canceling was that I did not have any recent buyer feedback
Is there anything I can do, I thought that when you won an auction it was a binding mutual contract between seller and buyer.
Thanks
Mike

Yea, really annoying, but there is very little {nothing) you can do. Ebay are pretty useless in these situations and it ends up being really frustrating.

You can name and shame the seller so forum members can avoid him Not much else though

You can post negative feedback for the seller , of course.

unfortunately it happens all the time, sellers don't bother putting a reserve on their item and it sells cheap. all you can do is name and shame and leave negative feedback. post a link to the original item as well .

I have had it happen to me as well, thought I had got an absolute bargain when it didn't turn up I emailed him and the pillock said it must have been lost in the post and there was nothing he could do. Luckily I had his address as he did not take paypal and I sent him a cheque. I only got a refund once I told him I was coming over to Hull to "dicuss" the matter with him. It is meant to be a binding deal but as said before eBay are useless in these situations.

Yeah, I bet there are a lot of people out there who list stuff just to test the water and get an idea of the valuation, with no real intention of selling. Although probably not a lot Ebay can do, I would hope they are monitoring those 'sellers' to see if there is a re-occurring pattern to their activity. Otherwise, what's the point having rules.

I was about to say that I have been almost totally happy with ebay over the years, but I don't want to jinx my luck ...couldn't do without it down here.. I have had a couple of issues but the sellers always got it sorted...
