Hi all, Need to know how to test the stator of a 250f and what readings I should get, Instructions should be as simple as possible please ! If it turns out to be knackered will a 250lc sataor fit as I have plenty of these in good usable condition, wouldn't mind changing over the connectors if that's all it takes. If anyone has a workshop manual spare and for sale?
Cheers

same tests as an LC stator, readings are virtually the same, you need to change the stator mounting/back plate as the 250F only has 2 slots and the LC has 3, so they don;t fit on, but the windings are virtually the same, not ever done it mind, so other issues might need to be checked, e..g flywheel clearance, pickup air gap etc, etc

Got a few other things to check also but think the problem is stator/pick up issue. Thanks again Spooch

Hi Mutts, Checked the LC manual and it doesn't give any data on what the readings from the stator should be, the charging circuits are all within .05 of each other but don't have any reference figures for the ignition circuits. If you get a few minutes can you look out and let me know what readings I should be getting for charging and ignition circuits. Cheers Spooch

Hi Spooch
ok, the are
High Speed windings = Red and Brown = 5.1 ohms +/- 10% at degress Low speed windings = Brown and Black = 271 ohms +/- 10% at 20 degrees Pickup = White/red and Black = 87 ohms +/- 10% at 20 degress
Hope that helps
