Ive been to look at a V-reg Rd 250,Which the guy says is a Rd250e, Its matching numbers.
Can anyone identify this please and the differences,
The bike engine number is 1A2-04358448.
The log book states 1980 first registered. So is it a F-model.
But looking at Yambits list of numbers it says.
1A2-430101-450000 is 2R8. What does this mean
Can anyone explain please what have a change of buying.
Is it an E-model or F-model or 2R8
What does 2r8 mean.
Thanks

2r8 denotes 250 cc 2r9 denotes 400 cc I'm not sure on 250 numbers but the small difference between the e model and F include the F has plugs blanking the left side disc holes that don't get used where as the e has a plastic cover the F had cranked brake and clutch levers ( could have been changed) .if you look on air cooled forum there may be a list off numbers for each model

Its a 2R8 model, its just a model code that was used for both E and F models. (2R8 = 250cc for Europe)
F models had as mentioned dog leg brake and clutch levers, harness is different (normally CDI plug although E's varied to)and the front wheel wont have a plastic cover over the spare disc side it will just look un-machined. Most F's came with red painted wheels, most of the E's were black originally although there seems to have been a bit of a cross over on some things.

So you can't tell, just by the engine and frame numbers.
The bike is old and could have all sorts of parts made up from e or f models.
Just wondered if some one could tell me which model it is,i know reading from internet there was a lot of confusion over the e and f models

Most of them are old and made up of lots of bits lol!!!
Mines an F, one owner never restored before I bought it. Chassis number 435519* So your frame number has one extra digit in it, they should only have 6 numbers and a star at the end but its definately an F model
