try another plug, just cos its new doesnt mean its a good un.

Dont suppose the battery connections dirty or loose, sounds like an Oh shit it was that all along problem, i hate those so good luck. Also the ingnition switch could cause that if its goosed so bypass it. Had that before myself.

have you done a continuity test on ALL the wires from/to each part of the electrical system? you could find that all the parts are working fine its just that you have a broken wire somewhere? seems that you done everything else why not give that a go?
(my brother had a similar problem on his rf900 it was a broken wire in the loom)
