Today i went to the tuner i am using to collect my crankshaft and there were two fifty cc racers there, One was a modern yamaha using a 125 chassis and the other was a classic Benelli.
Both bikes will be racing this week end at different venues. Checkout the difference in the tyre sizes.
In my eyes they are both cracking bikes and difficult to say which one i liked most.
The Benelli was on the dyno bank for ignition timing adjustments and i was surprised that they were talking fractions of a degree
The bike made 18 hp the owner explained it could make more with a bigger carb but he preferred the small 24mm carb as it gave a little more midrange power
He also explained to me that he cleans the exhaust to check out which colour it turns, that gorgeous blue colour tells him its running good.
Some times i see modern bikes with a shock damper on one side of the bike, i thought it was a new fandangle thing but it turns out to be old hat, as this benelli shows
The tuner himself (Pieter) has turned to the dark side of the force. He's fallen in love with this.
He told me you can't ride it hard so he finds it relaxing bumbling along on it.
