well assome of you know my bike is running, however....
ive got a small electrical problem, i can use the key to turn the bike on, start it, no probs
come to turn it it off, it remains running, hit the kill switch and she turns off, ive replaced the ignition thinking it may be that however the problem persists, am i right in thinking its a ground?
ive checked my wiring and all seems ok, the loom has had been modified the run the r6 back end light, i have added a switch direct to the battery as even though the key is off im sure its still using the battery and will go flat after a day or 2
im at a bit of a loss, so i need some help!!

I can't help with wiring problems because I hate all things electrical. It might make you feel better that my YPVS has exactly the same problem though

There is a connection in the ignition switch which grounds a wire when ignition is off. I think it is the black to black/white connection? (look at the left two columns on the main ignition switch diagram above) Check with a meter to make sure this is working in the ignition switch (i.e. the black white wire should go to ground when ignition is off). If that is working, trace the black/white wire, as it may be broken/cut somewhere.

And note that the battery isn't involved in the ignition side of things.

You can put your one key fits all ignition back on since youve proved it's not that

There are different pattern 6 block connectors.
Have had issues with the wires or switching being different
Check the wires are the same colours on both sides of the connector block
Black connects to black/white when turned off if my memory serves me right
