just bought a genuine head gasket am i right in thinking as long as every thing is clean flat its just a case of bolt and correct torque no need for heat cycle on the gen ones.

always a good thing to re torque after a heat cycle or two.
Don't forget that if you are disturbing the base gasket in any way you should really replace it and ensure it's absolutely clean or you could end up with an air leak into the crankcase which will significantly affect the running.

sorry just realised what i put, what i meant was with the genuine ones do you run up for about 5 mins or so with no water then re torque when cold then fill with water, i no this is the case with pattern ones but not sure with the gen ones.
