Hi Guys
Fitted a tail tidy to the MT 09 today, now it has a noise when I turn the ignition on a kind of high pitched electrical noise ? I can't remember if it did this before so if any of you guys out there have one,can you tell me if this is normal ?? It is a genuine Yamaha Tail tidy with the LED light for the number plate.

Is it the fuel pump priming?

no, It's a high pitched constant noise, bit like a mozzy round your ear. Pump primes then stops without a problem.

Sorry I don't think I can help you then, I would suggest posting on the MT09 forum, I have a MT09 but I can't recall a noise like you describe, if it stops raining I will start mine up in the morning and have a listen

Thanks dezcbr, it's when the ignition is on, I'm wondering if it's always done this but now I have the seat etc. off the bike it's more noticeable. Bike starts without any issue. Thanks in advance for checking.

I am more than likely going to make myself look daft, but can it be the led bulb if that is all you've worked on, I am sure the led bulbs my audi make a noise

Would start by unplugging the wiring and see if it stops

Unplugged the LED and still there, a guy on the MT Forum suggested the servo for the butterflies in the throttle bodies, seems right as the noise does alter when the throttle is operated, maybe I should stick with two strokes in future, the LC never makes such noises !

Sorry for delay, just been out and took seat off my bike, switched on ignition and it makes a noise from under the tank exactly as you describe, mine was new in july & I've done 2700 miles and it is a great bike
