Not sure if they are like 'original black chrome' as chrome cleaner strips the black off, believe furniture polish was the cleaner of choice (Mr Sheen ) I would hope it's a bit more robust nowadays. BTW they look very nice, and probably worth the wait.

They were left with a neighbour when I got home tonight so I didn't know they here , I'll call Gibsons tomorrow and see what they recommend to use , WD40 might do the job .

WD40 leaves them smeary and greasy looking, great for removing chain lube mind.
I use Autoglym polish on mine every few months and a very lightly damped microfibre cloth in between times, leaves them perfect.

I've got black chrome pipes on one of my LC's I usually just use Mr Sheene , if they need any sturdier cleaning then it's Brasso Duraglit Wadding

They are separate Des the flanges are just slotted in pipes , look the same design as the JL's were so hopefully won't leak too much , Garry you don't want a sausage dog they do whatever they want to do and ignore everything you tell them , just like a wife does !

I would go for a bit Barry as well. Doesnt damage any expensive furniture so reckon it would do the job well. I believe it Shifts Shields And shines in seconds. But dont take my word for it. Good luck and excellent looking pipes...

I so want a set of these, just lovely!
I would check anything you use to polish them on an underside part first in case it ruins the coating, back in the day I used normal car polish, worked well but I think the mr sheen idea is genius as it would be waxy and leave a nice coating and be simple to do with no cutting action.

Gibsons use a double slip joint on the flanges which means no leaks . yes they do look nice.

Hi The pipes on my 385 were sent to Gibsons for black chroming, and although I haven't cleaned them yet I was planning on using car polish - Autoglym - if you can use it safely on paintwork I would imagine it's fine on the pipes. Dusty

I'd be a bit careful with car polish as it's slightly abrasive, a car wax would be better, but not sure what would happen with the heat from an exhaust (if anything) It could possibly stain or go smeary.

The pipes will be cleaned and fitted this weekend I just hope that they don't upset the carburration as I've just got the bike running great , shame they took so long to arrive but with the dark nights coming it gives me time to tidy up a few things on the bike I didn't like .

Decided to try and clean the black sooty stuff off the pipes with car wax , it worked and put a good sheen on them although it makes them a little lighter in colour , they certainly perform better than the old gummed up standard pipes.
