Powervalve position

I set the powervalve to, what I thought was fully open when I rebuilt the engine in my mk3 rd125 but Im now doubting myself a bit.

Had the pipe off the other day and found that the middle peg position corresponded to the valve being flush in the exhaust port but Im just looking for confirmation that this is right?

stick your finger in exhaust port, turn valve to see when at max height, easy
