Wondering why my clutch cable had so much play and my Lil 6 yr old tells me that the Rd125lc had been dropped on that side of the bike. Could that have given some play in cable as well as the fact that the bike has been standing for over four years?

take the clutch apart, measure and inspect the plates, the rod and ball bearing + push lever, if still ok then oil everything up on re-assembly (grease the rods) , then re-adjust internally before worrying about cable, there's a notch on crankcase where it needs setting to. Also make sure you're using the right oil in there, search the forum for advice. I use a Silkolene light gear oil found at a dirt bike shop.
and use a haynes manual
